According to World Sports, La Liga Villarreal Club Chairman Roiger talked about the team's signing of former Arsenal player Thomas this summer in an interview. Thomas will be tried in September this year on allegedly committing five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The signing of Villarreal has caused huge controversy.

Roiger said: "Thomas is in judicial proceedings, and he has defended himself to deny the alleged behavior. Our (Villareal) club upholds the principle of presumption of innocence and will be found by the British judicial department. We respect the presumption of innocence and, of course, condemn any form of violence inside and outside the football field. At present, Thomas should be considered innocent like all of us here, and we must respect this fundamental right of his."

" Thomas is a very outstanding player who will help our team make great progress. He is one of the best players in the world in the same position. If Thomas is convicted, he will leave and will no longer be a Villareal player, but he has not been convicted yet. We must wait, Thomas deserves our right to respect his presumption of innocence."
