According to reports from multiple Spurs reporters, the Spurs have quietly hung the retirement flag of Hall of Fame coach Popovich with 1,390 wins over the home arena, alongside many Spurs legends. The flag was raised without any public ceremony and it is understood Popovich did not want any lavish celebrations.

Popovich began coaching the Spurs in the 1996-97 season, leading the Spurs to a record of 1,390 wins and 824 losses, and a playoff record of 284 wins and 170 losses, helping the team win five championships.
