Italian Sports Minister Abedi said that at least three new stadiums will start construction in Italy in 2026.

Italy will host the 2032 European Cup. In order to have five qualified stadiums to host the competition, Italy has simplified the approval process for the construction of new stadiums. Minister Abody said: "I am ready for action. It is not enough to have the idea (of a new stadium). This idea has always been there, but if there is no specific action schedule, then things cannot move forward."

Minister Abody continued: "In 2026, at least three new stadiums will start construction. The 2032 European Cup is a catalyst, and I must also provide proposals for my successor within a year and a half. It is a process that has been started, but the change in progress is significant."

Finally, Abody also talked about the Maradona Stadium in Naples, "I understand the sanctity of this stadium, but I hope that the government and the club can jointly find a solution to bring a stadium worthy of Naples. It is difficult for me to imagine that Naples cannot host the European Cup, but this risk does exist now."
