According to reporter Jake Fischer, Simmons had contact with the 76ers after being bought out by the Nets last season.

Fischer said: "The Sixers were very interested in Simmons at the time. Embiid and Simmons 'fixed the rift between them'."

Simmons joined the Clippers after being bought out by the Nets. He did not sign a contract after the end of the season and is still a free agent.
